Panel game show

Writers are wizards of words, but how long can they keep talking on a given subject without repeating themselves, going off-topic, or hesitating?

Four guest writers take on the challenge in this lively and hilarious panel game show, chaired by poet and compere Joe Williams. Expect a brilliantly entertaining evening of wordplay, wit, and friendly competition in the spirit of the classic radio format.

We've got an incredible line-up for you: joining Joe will be Testament, Kristina Diprose, Jack McLean and Faye Marshall.

About the panel

Testament is an award winning writer, rapper and world record breaking beatboxer with performances on BBC TV, Sky Arts and BBC Radio 1, amongst others. Testament's work includes the acclaimed plays ‘Black Men Walking’ and ‘Orpheus In The Record Shop’ and he is currently host of live poetry show The Adverb on BBC Radio 4.

Kristina Diprose’s debut pamphlet, ‘Thin Spells’, was published with The Black Cat Poetry Press in 2025. She has been a New Northern Poet with Ilkley Literature Festival, written short story commissions for Bradford 2025, and her work has appeared in Mslexia, The Brontë Parsonage, and on BBC Front Row.

Jack Mclean is a stand-up and comedy compere. In 2023 he made the televised semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards, and won the Yorkshire Comedy Awards Best Breakthrough Act. He has opened a Chris Ramsey & Friends Gala Night at Hull Arena and supported Josh Jones, Fiona Allen and many others. He is the host of the popular Leeds comedy night Comedy at the Cardi, and the writer of sitcom podcast Sunnier Climes.

Faye Marshall is a poet, spoken word artist and nurse based in West Yorkshire. Described by Salena Godden as an “exquisite, exciting, exhilarating poet both on stage and page”, Faye founded the Cloth and Coal poetry community in south Leeds and co-hosts Soul Shed in Wakefield. Faye has facilitated workshops and hosted panels internationally and her debut pamphlet, ‘Throwing Sugar on the Fire’, was published by Yaffle Press in 2025.

Joe Williams is a writer and performing poet from Leeds. He is the host of the popular poetry event Chemistry, a Forward Prize nominee, and the author of four books, including 'An Otley Run', a verse novella set on the famous Leeds pub crawl, which was shortlisted for Best Novella at the Saboteur Awards. Despite all of that, he is probably most widely read thanks to his contributions to Viz.
