Out of the Darkness: Greenham Voices with Rebecca Mordan

Mon 1 January 0001 - Sun 5 March 2023
The Leeds Library

As a child Rebecca Mordan visited Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp with her mother and was part of making history with 30,000 other women and children at the Embrace the Base action 40 years ago.  After graduating Sheffield University and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Rebecca worked as an actor, director, writer and producer and created award-winning feminist production hub Scary Little Girls and became a regular ‘rent-a-feminist’ talking head for TV and Radio, including You and Yours, 5 Live, Women’s Hour, and Sky News.  In 2018 she started interviewing Greenham Women to celebrate their unique role in changing women’s roles nationally and internationally, and she hasn’t stopped since! In 2021 she was chosen to be part of the BBC Writers Room, wrote for the BBC's Archive on Four, Radio 4’s The UK Project and her first book was published, Out of the Darkness: Greenham Voices

In this talk about her book and the process leading to it, Rebecca will bring along Greenham Women who contributed their stories, sing you some songs from the Greenham Song book and she and her guests will answer all your burning Greenham questions - go on ask them, we dare you!
